PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — A shareholder in YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has formally appealed to Cambodian authorities, requesting intervention in a dispute involving the company’s chairman, Yamada Taihei. The investor alleges serious misconduct, including fraud, breach of trust, and misappropriation of company funds.

In letters sent to government officials, including the Ministry of Justice, the investor claims that Yamada, a Japanese national and chairman of the board, manipulated business transactions for personal gain. According to the letters, several real estate deals in Cambodia were allegedly inflated, with preliminary findings suggesting that around $4 million may have been misappropriated.

The investor further alleges that Yamada and associates created fictitious business deals, including loans totaling more than $7 million, and engaged in document forgery and large-scale fund diversion through shell companies. Some of the misappropriated funds were reportedly transferred to an overseas account under the name of Yamada’s wife, Ye Jun.

The letters also claim that Yamada established shell companies across Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan using nominee directors while maintaining direct control over related bank accounts and transactions.

Cambodian prosecutors have reportedly filed charges in at least two criminal cases involving Yamada and others, and certain assets and accounts have been frozen by court orders. The investor also states that authorities in several other countries — including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States — are investigating allegations including embezzlement, document forgery, breach of trust, and money laundering.

In his appeal, the investor urged Cambodian courts and authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, warning that any interference could allow suspects to evade accountability, intimidate witnesses, or destroy evidence.

The case remains under investigation as both local and international authorities continue to examine the allegations.
